A Colony Supply Auction Failed After a Water-Yield Dispute

One expansion auction collapsed when competing estimates of local water yield made the supply terms impossible to price cleanly.

A supply auction for one growing colony failed after bidders could not agree on the local water yield assumptions underlying the logistics contract.

The problem was not only environmental uncertainty. It was the fact that transport, storage, food growth, and power commitments had all been priced on top of different internal water expectations. Once those assumptions diverged too far, the auction no longer described one shared project.

Events like this show how little off-world expansion can rely on optimism. The first disputed resource estimate is often enough to unravel the whole commercial package.
